DARKNESS COVERS A MULTITUDE OF SINS
Brooch made of gold plated silver, remnants, stainless steel
For exhibition SONG OF THE TOWER — a short exhibition of metal and jewellery artists from Estonia, Sweden, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States.
For just four days, the tower will resonate with works exploring the traces of sound through time. The hammer on the anvil, the echo of church bells, the goblet striking stone - sounds that travel, resonate and reverberate across time and space.
They awaken shared memories of a mist-shrouded past and stir us from the slumber of the present, urging us to listen towards the future.
Throughout history, towers have served two purposes: to see and hear, or to be seen and heard.
The Tower of Babel displayed human omnipotence; the Pharos lighthouse guided sailors through shallows and reefs.
Church bell towers and minarets proclaim time, while glass skyscrapers proclaim ambition and wealth.
Watchtowers and observatories rise instead to discover what is strange and unknown.
